San Juan Capistrano, CA — Between JV and Frosh Soph, this was the 7th meeting between these overlapping group of boys this spring. We played an “all doubles” format, and most everybody got to play 3 full sets. There were some wins and some close losses, followed by a B-B-Q afterwards.

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — In this friendly, “non-league” match, Coach Wilson inverted most of of our normal line-up, putting singles into the doubles and vice-versa, in order to give our singles guys a much-needed rest before the Trinity League Tournament. Nice try though :)

Santa Ana, CA — Frosh Soph boys notched their 4th win of the season 😃 in an exciting match vs the Foothill Knights yesterday afternoon, in an “all doubles” format.

Fullerton, CA — JSerra finishes official league play undefeated with today’s 11-7 victory vs Servite at the Fullerton Tennis Centre.

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — Frosh Sophers played a respectable match today at Santa Margarita.

Huntington Beach, CA — Frosh Soph Lions we’re outmatched today, losing to a very good Edison team 16-2.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — In a non-league fill-in match, JV boys defeated the visiting Eagles from Santa Margarita 11-7, our 2nd win against them this year. They’ll be back next week for the determining league title match - our JV boys have a chance to be outright league champions for the first time in schools history. Save the date: April 5th.

Huntington Beach, CA — In less than 24 hours, we dropped 2 matches to the Eagles of Santa Margarita. “Iron sharpens iron” so it is good experience for our young team.

Huntington Beach, CA — The next match against La Quinta brought our lions more of a challenge with key big wins coming from Sam G and Andrew to raise our game count number and pull out a win at 3-3 with a game count of 36-32.

Huntington Beach, CA — It was a beautiful day in Huntington beach for frosh soph tennis! We started early this morning with some fog and cold weather and finished in some nice sun a couple hours past our expected end time! Our boys played very well and exceeded our expectations. The first match against Tesoro lifted our spirits as we took down the Titans 4-2. The next match against La Quinta brought our lions more of a challenge with key big wins coming from Sam and Andrew to raise our game count number and pull out a win at 3-3 with a game count of 36-32. With our spirits high, we went into our match against Edison with confidence and excitement but couldn't pull through with a win and ended up losing 1-5. As we were second in our bracket we made it as far as our JSerra Frosh Soph team has ever made it in this tournament and we were going to the finals to compete for 3rd or 4th place against none other than our cross town rivals, the Santa Margarita Eagles. The Eagles proved to be yet again a tough competition as they defeated us 1-5. Thanks for a great day of tennis and congratulations to our 4th place Beach Smash tournament competitors!

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — Lions upset Eagles in Trinity League opener 10-8 on their home courts. According to their assistant coach, Corey, that’s the first league JV loss in many years. (We are going to fact check that🤪) Huge win regardless - great job guys!

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The score was 3 to 3 at end of first round, 3 to 3 in 3rd round, but 2-4 in middle round = 8-10 loss. Lopsided attack again: 8 singles set wins vs zero doubles wins :(

Irvine, CA — MVP’s Christopher Kempf and Sam Asadi beat some tough serving players in the final set of doubles today: 6-2!…. This was the only win, keeping us from getting “bageled.”

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Portola is one of the few schools in Orange County which has more boys in the program than girls, causing tough internal competition for team and ladder placement. It was evident that there are a lot of “hungry” boys on their team, as they punished us in singles and doubles.

Santa Ana, CA — Improvement over 0-18 drubbing last year, but still fairly lopsided. We had to forfeit 3 sets due to missing players, so we started out 0-3.

Irvine, CA — JSerra overturns earlier 3-15 loss with a resounding 13-5 win at Crean Lutheran this afternoon. How’d that happen?….with a full, complete team. Last match had half the team at the Beckmann Tournament, today the Lion Pride was in full force.

Huntington Beach, CA — Calm winds, warm breezes right off the ocean, but not so smooth sailing on the courts. Only one player managed to win more than one set: MVP of the day, Marco Belciano, who won all 3 sets played.

Fountain Valley, CA — Frosh Soph accompanied JV to Fountain Valley, making use of 12 of their 13 courts and playing 2 dual matches at the same time.

Fountain Valley, CA — Missing guys but Coach Brendon let us play a 5 singles, 1 doubles format so we didn’t need to forfeit any sets….also gave doubles players a chance to play 3 sets of singles.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — With several players out sick or at Jazz practice, and a few more starters at the Beckman Showcase Tourney in Irvine, the remaining crew bolstered by 5 Frosh / Soph players gave a solid effort but were outmatched.

Lake Forest, CA — Great way to start the season with a solid win at El Toro High School. Despite the lopsided score, there was some really good tennis being played by boys from both squads with more than a handful of long singles points, resulting in unsolicited applause from all the spectators.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — There was some excellent tennis played today, the JV team almost pulled off an upset after losing earlier in the season at Crean Lutheran. Coach had the score wrong on the big board, we actually were down 7-8 and needed the last 2 sets in order to win the match, but (simultaneous) split finishes left us 1 set short.

Santa Margarita, CA — Even with a shuffled line-up, literally changed at the introductions, JSerra boys still came up short handed in this 2nd league match vs SMCHS, 3rd match total for the season.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Avenging an earlier season loss, JSerra defeated the visiting Chargers this afternoon by a score of 10-8. Down 8-6 early in the 3rd round, the JV Lions won the last 4 sets in a row to secure the victory!

San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra JV boys played pretty well this afternoon in this extra, non-league match vs Servite. Our singles improved over our earlier match in Fullerton, winning 5 sets; while doubles only picked up 1 set :(

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — We took almost a full roster (15 of 18) players to Santa Margarita this afternoon in an extra added, non-league contest giving some of our subs a chance to play 2 full sets. Thanks to all the parents who stepped up to drive (we’ll need some of you this Friday too!)

We played 6 sets of singles along with 6 sets of doubles. Unfortunately we could only get 1 set win in doubles (thank you Kenny Perez and Max Chiotis !) while getting 4 set wins in singles.

Irvine, CA — Nice venue, nice afternoon - not so nice final score. The 5-13 score was more lopsided than the actual match - there was some very good tennis played this afternoon. We lost 2 tie-breakers, along with a 4-6 set. However we had great parent turnout today....JSerra parents Rock!

Newport Coast, CA — Surrounded by ominous dark clouds, after passing through a brief shower on the toll road, our JV boys miraculously got all 18 sets of tennis in at Sage Hill in a cold but fun night match. Missing a couple of top players turned out to be the difference.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Thanks to our old friend Coach Tim DeLio, who added this last minute match for us today. It was way different than the hectic scene on Tuesday. Despite being the end of the quarter, we had a great turnout and all the players got to play at least 2 sets, most played 3.
