San Juan Capistrano, CA — JV netters snatched victory right out of the jaws (or beaks) of defeat, winning the last 4 sets for a 10-8 win. Had we tied 9-9, we would have lost by 1 game on game count.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Solid team victory this afternoon with 7 singles set wins and 6 doubles. All players got in today, some of the players who have played fewer sets got in twice and picked up some wins.

CA — JV squad had a fairly balanced attack today with 5 singles set wins (Robert Thornton 2, Johnny Tavares 2 and Thomas Gormley.

Huntington Beach, CA — We were on the wrong side of the white wash, unfortunately. Remember in Segerstrom recap, I mentioned we would revisit the First Serve entrance aspect of this event... here it is, no excuses.

Huntington Beach, CA — The whole team served up a bagel, but, it wasn't as close as 6-0 looks! Hudson and Lucas at line 1, squeaked out an 8-7 [7-5] tiebreaker after being up early in this 8 game pro set. They held on with a great tiebreaker to pull it out. Hudson hit some forehands that darn near broke the sound barrier and Lucas was a mad man at the net! Enzo was involved in another nail biter, 8-5 , HB was 8-4 in a vs a tenacious kid too. Alex/Michael and Johnny/Logan were ruthless winning 8-1 and 8-0 respectively. THEN Kayden playing in the #1 spot fell behind and was in the 1 step forward 2 step back syndrome, literally, all the way. We had a little talk at 2-5, he broke then held for 4-5 deficit... I go back to #1 dubs, look over and Kayden's down a 2 breaks again, 4-7... BUT, with both teams watching, Kayden claws his way up the ladder and plays his best for last, winning the tiebreaker and completing the bagel sweep for the Lions! EVERYONE is an MVP !!!

Huntington Beach, CA — JSerra traveled with 1 varsity and 8 JV athletes to Huntington Beach to compete in the annual Pete Brown First Serve event. KOach Kirk has entered this tourney 17 years! It is called First Serve as it is intended for players who have not competed in many USTA events. We will learn a little later, that, this isn't always the case. Upper end players with high rankings are restricted however.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Another lopsided victory, however, this match is good for the program because varsity got some good competition in singles this afternoon.

Santa Ana, CA — JV lost a tight match this afternoon. It was tied 3-3 after round 1; 5-5 towards the end of round 2; then the Knights started pulling away.

Lake Forest, CA — JV opened up the 2024 season with an ez win at El Toro Thursday. Coach Tyler has a good group of young boys, well coached, but we simply outmatched them in doubles and singles.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Visiting Coach Richard Kosai stepped up to add this fill-in match for our JV boys after we found out we lost 6 Trinity League matches due to 3 schools not fielding JV teams. And then that happened to his team just this week! So the extra match, as lopsided as it was, helped out both programs.
