Rancho Cucamonga, CA — JSerra's 2024 girls season came to an end today on a blustery wind-driven day at Los Osos High School. Postponed from yesterday due to impossible weather conditions, the Lions traveled up to the base of the mountains at approximately 1200 ft in elevation and battled in the toughest of conditions.

Fountain Valley, CA — The Lions opened up the first round with a 4-2 lead only to drop 5 of 6 sets in round 2. The third round was a tossup which left the Lions with only 8 total.

Laguna Hills, CA — Laguna Hills was kind enough to host JSerra in this late season non-league contest. The Hawks lost five good seniors from last year's team and definitely are in a rebuilding phase.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions opened the 2nd round of Trinity League play with a hard-fought gritty comeback over OLu by way of total game count; 73 to 65! This avenges a previous 8-10 loss at OLu 2 weeks ago.

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — SM is a tough place to win, JSerra has done it before but was not as fortunate today.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra ladies battled today and narrowly missed out on a victory. Our doubles teams picked up six sets as singles added two, vs. two highly ranked Monarchs. KOach Kirk and captains Scarlett and Ellie studied recent results, came up with a good lineup and guessed right. Good plan.

Anaheim, CA — Fielding five freshmen starters, JSerra traveled to Anaheim to face OLu, who fought tenaciously and defeated the Lions 10 to 8.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions received a gift today as Laguna visited at less than full strength. Again, as yesterday, our team's scouting report was not fully funded, so we went with our gut... and stacked doubles. The Breakers #1 girl was unbeatable, so Scarlett and Brookelyn were moved to the other side of the ledger, paired with Ellie and Aerin respectively; both duos swept two sets easily. This left Naomi, Isabell and Ava in singles where they picked up 5 sets. Peyton/Milana and Scarlett/Ellie pick up substitute hat tricks as Kylie/Juliana and Chiara/Elliana were victorious in the 3rd round. Cecelia helped earn a singles hat trick, winning at line#2 in place of Isabella.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Historically, this cross-town match is always close; many 9-9 total game counts have been in this history the rest 10-8 or 8-10.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions opened up the season with a "tougher-than-it-looks" victory over the Oilers in Surf City a couple of weeks ago. Followed by two matches they schedule yearly (think Notre Dame vs Northern Illinois! jk)....Dana Hills and El Toro, to pad our "W" column. A handful of schools that would usually play us, have declined due to the new qualifying rules for CIF playoffs, Rosary drops out of our league so there goes two easy W's. Hanging on to 3 early wins is probably going to get slippery, but the girls are getting stronger every day.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Aliso brought a top-heavy singles squad today, in the form of sisters, and handed the Lions their first loss of the season. Our singles 'triage' today, Scarlett, Brookelyn and Naomi were completely stymied at line 1 and 2, but were able to pick up easy "W's" at line 3. These were their first losses of the season.

The Dolphins were down this year, their team was much stronger last year, which is strange, because we beat them at their courts 18 - 0.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Most of the S squad exited early from the lineup today, giving others a chance to play 2 sets. After jumping ahead 5-1 in the opening round, we played even 3-3 in the next 2 rounds, winning 11-7.

Santa Ana, CA — Foothill is a perennial power in Orange County tennis, this is the school varsity beat 2 years ago for the CIF title….so we knew it wouldn’t be an EZ afternoon. (Varsity lost by the same score today.)

San Juan Capistrano, CA — SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — JSerra FS got out-dub’d this afternoon in this all doubles format, 3-15. SC Coach Ellie must have expected our DH-1 squad, because she brought her top 12 players. But we coaches are proud of the effort our B & C squad today, across all 6 lines. Many sets were tighter than the final score suggests.

Newport Beach, CA — Newport Harbor

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions hosted the Monarchs today and the outcome was very close. Round 1 ended 4-2 in JSerra's favor; 6-6 after round 2 and 9-9 after round 3.

Fountain Valley, CA — We went to Fountain Valley a little short-handed w a few players sick and a few on retreat. Playing a standard 3x3 doubles and 3x3 singles for a total of 18 sets, we at least did not get “bagel’d” thanks to the efforts of MVP for the day, Gia Banks-Meeker.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — First and foremost, KUDOS to our DH-2 squad who almost beat this Edison team in the first match of the year, while DH-1 was taking care of San Clemente. This was a “tough out” today, had we not won 4 of 5 tie-breaker sets, we would have lost again 8-10.

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — Any day JSerra beats Santa Margarita is a good day, even if it’s checkers or a chess match. We started off with SHOCK and AWE just like Friday vs Sage Hill, winning opening round 6-0. Unlike Friday, we kept the hammer down today for a convincing 14-4 win. Again, all 20 JSerra players got into the action.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Big improvement over last year! … Sage coach wanted to cancel our 2nd match because they beat us so badly, yeah with JV players. We declined, played ‘em again with our FS squad and lost again. So what, our Frosh Soph girls come to play, year in and year out.

San Clemente, CA — It’s been about 10 years since JSerra defeated San Clemente in tennis. First time was with Coach Chelsea Crook, a 4 year varsity player at SC, who coached for us 4-5 years. Kirk and I were at separate V and JV matches vs SMCHS, and didn’t get to witness that early FS victory. This afternoon’s win was S-W-E-E-T :)

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Turnabout is fair play - yeah baby! After losing earlier in the season 13-5 to SM with a mixed line-up, our “Red Squad” clipped their wings this afternoon with an 11-7 all-doubles whoopin’.

Mission Viejo, CA — Playing the first match of a double-header Saturday, our BLUE GIRL Crew came through with our 3rd match victory of the 2021 fall season, defeating the Capo Valley Cougars 11-7 in a close match.
