The Lady Scots Finish Strong at the Caledonia Invite at Crystal Mountain
Thompsonville, MI — "Today's race was a great way to finish the season. We raced against a bunch of teams that we have a lot of connections too. We used to train and share time at Bittersweet with Plainwell TK, our middle school skiers have raced against Grand Rapids Christian and Grand Rapids Catholic Central/West Catholic for years, we have participated in the Clare Invitational since it began and we are in a conference with Benzie, Glen Lake and Onekama along with racing against them for years at Invitationals. Our skiers know many of their athletes and it is a great group of coaches to work with to pull off a race".

Girls Ski Team Take 3rd in the LMSC
Thompsonville, MI — "If you had told me that this winter was going to be as challenging as it has been last year I would not have believed you but we have overcome it and we able to complete 5 conference races and two Invitationals before Regionals. Our girls are incredible athletes who have pushed themselves despite the obstacles put in their way. Wednesday's races were no exception. The morning races had softening snow as the morning progressed and the afternoon was raced on chemically hardened snow, which didn't hold up as well as the coaches had hoped." Coach Petrosky" Our girls put down a bunch of great runs and we were able to hold on to third place in the conference."

Thompsonville, MI — "Today was a great test of our skiing. The conditions were tough and our girls really showed grit in their attack of the courses. Kyleigh Thompson led our team in both events tonight (6th SL and 8th GS), she has been consistently one of our top skiers for the past two years and is really skiing well as we get ready for our final stretch of races leading up to Regionals". Coach Petrosky "Our girls skied in a nice clump of times that really the showed consistency of the team. We took third but really pushed ourselves in the courses and are showing improvement."

Three Medals and Lots of Great Runs at the Caledonia Invitational
Thompsonville, MI — " Our girls team really skied well today, even though we placed fifth there was a lot to be happy about. Our skiers came out today and skied confidently under some fairly tough conditions. Earlier in the season we raced on Buck and it intimidated some of our skiers but today they all were ready for what ever the hill threw at them." Coach Petrosky "Mya and Kyleigh both really skied well today and really all season. The two of them have really pushed themselves this season and today we got to see them at their finest--we also got to see improved skiing from all of our team."

Girls Ski Team 10th at Regionals
Belmont, MI — "At the beginning of the season, our goal was to see improvement in each of our skiers and we did! I know 10th place is not something we have seen in a while but we haven't had a team this young either. My Juniors led the way all season and at regionals their leadership came through. Mya Baldwin and Kyleigh Thompson have proven themselves on the slopes and off the slopes. Even when they have a tough run, they are there cheering on their team mates and are ready for their next event. Mya had a great first slalom run and then on her second run clipped a gate with her ski causing it to come off. Even though this was not the result she had hoped for, Mya cleared her head and finished the race leading our team in GS. Both Baldwin and Thompson have been the foundation of our rebuild and I could not be prouder of these two outstanding young ladies!"

Girls Team is Showing Growth Clare Invitational
Mancelona, MI — "Sometimes improvement doesn't show up in the final score and today was one of those days. My girls confidence went up and their skiing showed signs of growth---all of girls finished all of their runs on one of the steepest slopes in Michigan which is a feat that doesn't always happen at this race." Coach Petrosky "The first step in improving as a team is believing in yourself and these girls are doing just that. I heard them all say that they were ready for the 550 feet of vertical on the FACE and after their runs they said that it was fun, which is going to help when we head back to the 250 ft vertical of Timber Ridge on Monday for our next conference race. When I took over the program 8 years ago, the first thing that we did was add as much big hill up north racing to our schedule as possible, so our skiers would gain skiing experiences that can only be had on steep complicated slopes."

Girls Team Ends Up 2nd Place in SWMSC
Gobles, MI — "These girls never stop amazing me! At the beginning of the season, when I looked at this team I knew that they had a ton of potential but I also knew our conference had some very fast skiers and some teams that were deep and could really make a run at the championship. My girls stepped up and skied well enough to end up in 2nd place and they should be proud of their efforts. My seniors, Barbie DeGood and Evie Schlett, really did a great job skiing this year but what I am most proud of is how they brought up everyone around them. These two girls helped everyone on their team grow as skiers, I saw them working with our exchange students and younger skiers to help them grow & learn from their experiences." Coach Petrosky "Throughout the season we saw Mya and Kyleigh improve in their skill and confidence and I saw my seniors there leading them every step of the way. This last race was a very bittersweet moment for me since it was the end of an era, which is always sad but I have seen the passing of the torch of leadership this season and am excited to see how our new leaders will push their team forward."

Barbie earned a place on the all regional team with her 13th place finish in slalom and just missed qualifying for the state finals and Evie led the team in giant slalom." Coach Petrosky. This team can ski with anyone around and they are fun to coach. Even though we did not have everyone at Thursday's race, everyone we did have gave us great runs." Coach Petrosky " I want compliment all the teams that we skied against tonight--they are all newer teams and I am impressed with the level of competition that they are providing in our conference. Plainwell TK has had a Co-op for 3 years, Hudsonville & South Haven both have their first girls team this year and it is fun watching them get better every meet. Otsego, MI — "If you have been watching the Olympics you have seen what an unpredictable sport ski racing can be, it is a sport of skill, mental toughness and a little luck at times. The SWMSC is a tough conference made up of some of the best skiers in south west Michigan and tonight our girls skied great, finished 4th and also moved into 2nd place in the standings for the conference." Coach Petrosky "We were very consistent in tonight's race and our girls skied some great times, which we expected after racing up north for the past two races. I am extremely excited to see Mya Baldwin lead the way for the team in GS, not too many sophomores do what she did tonight. We are senior heavy team and having the sophomores starting to step up is a great sign for the future our girls team".

Most of the girls on this team had never skied at Schuss, let alone raced on the over 500 foot monster of a slope but they came out and had an incredible race. As always, Barbie DeGood led the way the rest of the girls followed in a big way. Barbie, Mya and Evie all double medaled and Kyleigh brought home her first medal at an Invitational." The girls are really skiing well right now on the big hills against teams that are ranked in the state right. State ranked GR Christian has great team and so do Onekama & Benzie, so it made for a competitive race.
